Murdoch's Initial Thoughts on Orania: Multiculturalism, Integrationism, and the Role

Having a town that is openly racist and refuses to let people of other ancestries visit is, in my opinion, stupid (that's not what Orania is btw). However, free association should still be a fundamental right. That said, I do find the idea of language tests for citizenship in places like Tallinn, Estonia, quite appealing. Still, I believe requiring fluency in the language immediately for residency might be excessive. Also, if I or others were blocked from visiting due to arbitrary, immutable characteristics—like skin color—or denied help in an emergency, such as after a crash landing, that would be awful. Ultimately, to make the world more enjoyable, I think every place should strive to be unique and prioritize integration over multiculturalism. Otherwise, cities will gradually become indistinguishable from one another, diminishing the excitement of travel and adventure.
